Rwanda gear up for regional ‘Ambassador’s Cup’

Six countries have confirmed their participation in the forthcoming Taekwondo Ambassador’s Cup, which is scheduled for October 4-5 in Kigali.

According to the secretary general of the Rwanda Taekwondo Federation Placide Bagabo, the two-day event will have three categories namely; youth, junior and senior in both genders.

Rwanda will be represented by nine clubs including; Horang, Koryo, IYF, Lion power, Yes We Can, Dream Club, Dream Fighters, St Marie Reine and UR Huye.

The event, which will cost an estimated US$8,000 (approx Rwf5.6m), is expected to attract over 180 players from Burundi, Tanzania Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Kenya and hosts Rwanda.

“Our teams are ready and we want to win medals as we have prepared well,” Bagabo told Times Sport on Saturday.

The tournament which is sponsored by the Korea Ambassador to Rwanda and the Ministry of Sports and Culture will be played at the Amahoro indoor stadium.
