Alupo was flagging off Ivan Byekwaso for the Natural Olympia International Multi Sports & expo 2014 in San Diego in the US at Lugogo before he flew out with the sports commissioner Omara Apitta.

Despite missing the “World Cup” held on November 1 due to late acquisition of the travel Visa to the US the World Natural Body Building and Fitness Championship silver medalist is set to compete in the Olympiad due November 7-9.

“I congratulate you for winning a silver medal at the world championship and for qualifying for the Olympiad, you’re doing great for Uganda and my presence here is a confirmation that government is committed to the development of sports and all federations,” Alupo said.

She called on all federations to ensure they follow the new sports regulations ahead of the new sports law which is about to be passed by parliament.

According to Apitta Byekwaso will not only compete as an athlete but also an ambassador after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accredited him at the US embassy as one.

“Just like I performed well at the world championship I also promise to do the same at the Olympiad. Despite all the uncertainty in travelling I remained training and focused so I will put my best,” Byekwaso said.

The best athlete will win a car at the Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center.
