Ugandan kickboxer Moses Golola has reportedly opted to hibernate in Mabira forest as he prepares for this week’s showdown against Tanzanian Emmanuel Shija.

The fight dubbed “East and Central African Best of the Best Kickboxing Championship” will see Golola make his comeback to the ring after the September defeat to American Richard Abraham, who dominated en route to a unanimous victory.

The man largely credited for turning a little known sport into box office stuff is looking re-energised in his intense training sessions in Mabira’s Eco-Tourism Centre at Najjembe.

“My dream has always been to spread the sport of kickboxing around the country in different districts,” Golola was quoted as saying by the ‘Daily Monitor’ of Uganda.

“If musicians can take their musical concerts across their borders, why not kickboxing?” he queried. “People in Jinja should expect the best fight from me next week,” he vowed.

The ‘ Daily Monitor’ reports that the self-styled ‘No Joking Subject’ has been improving his technique and fitness for a week now in Mabira forest.

Although famous for his flamboyance and loud mouth, Golola’s lack of immaculate kickboxing’s ability is apparent. “I want people to know that there are two Moses Gololas: Golola the hot temper and Golola the hot temperlee. I am here to do revision and focus,” he said.

He added that the reason he camped in Mabira is to meditate and concentrate because “he needed to calm his medulla oblongata.”
