Senior Writer, Munyuku died at his home place in Kimara – Dar es Salaam, while Karashani died at Lugalo army hospital where he was admitted.

“I’m saddened by their deaths… it is a big loss not only to their families but also to the media houses that they served, as well as to the media fraternity in the country.

Their role as journalists was important for the development of our country and the nation as a whole”, said Kikwete in his message, whose copy was made available to the ‘Sunday News’ on Saturday.

Kikwete asked Mukangara to convey his condolences message to the bereaved families and encouraged them to be strong during this hard time of mourning.

“May the almighty God give the bereaved families courage and strength during this difficult time,” concluded President Kikwete. Both Munyuku and Baraka were laid to rest on Saturday.

Munyuku’s body was transported to his home village in Morogoro, while Baraka was buried at the Kinondoni graveyards. The late Munyuku was until his death working with New Habari (2006) Limited while Baraka Karashani who was a member of Tanzania Sports Writers’ Association (TASWA) was a freelance journalist. He previously also worked for New Habari (2006) Limited
