The netball match between Ugandan Parliamentary team and their Tanzanian counterparts has again failed to be played in Arusha as the Kampala ladies stuck to the guns that Dodoma was fielding imposters.
The match was to be played on Thursday as the rest of the teams recessed for a day off in the ongoing Inter-Parliamentary Games, but while Tanzania, who are the defending netball champions, arrived at the stadium ready for the game, Ugandans arrived and insisted that the match will not be played until Dodoma changed its line-up.
In soccer, meanwhile, the Parliament of Tanzania whitewashed the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) 4-0 in a one-sided semi-final match played at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.
Tanzania now await an epic finale with Parliament of Uganda who beat Kenya National Assembly 2-0 in an earlier match. Arumeru East MP Joshua Nassari opened the flood gates in the ninth minute from a spot-kick after striker Yona Kirumbi was felled in the penalty box.
Midfield dynamo Yusuf Gogo rattled EALA with a second goal after a nice combination between Hamis Kigwangala and captain Adam Malima.
In the second half, EALA made some substitutions, resting Joseph Mawallah for Wyclif Ketto and tasked Bernard Mulengani to play in goal.
An exchange of passes between striker Ahmed Juma Ngwali and Nassari resulted in the former slamming the ball into the net past Mulengani for the third goal.
The EALA goalkeeper mistimed the ball to let in the fourth goal following a defensive mix-up. In the other match of the day, Bagoole Johnson and Muhammad Nsereko scored in extra-time to give Uganda a 2-0 lead over Kenya National Assembly.
On Friday, the much awaited netball match between Parliament of Tanzania and the Parliament of Uganda is expected to take place.
