MADINI FC put up an astounding performance with a 5-0 win over Usa-River Stars in the Arusha Soccer League at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium here.
Madini have just chalked a new record of being the team which has scored the highest number of goals in just a single match since the league kicked off this season.
And it was quite a head start for Madini, who are making a maiden appearance in the regional league. The victors took off energetically and they were ahead just after eight minutes of play through Edward Simon’s rammed header.
Semi Kessy netted the second in the 13th minute, before grabbing a brace and the third for his team in the 34th minute, leaving Usa-River goalkeeper Bruno Raphael stunned.
Not to be outdone, Madini striker Ajiga Issa also stood up to be counted by earning his team the fourth goal in the 38th minute, enough time to let another ball pusher Hassan Mgamba to complete the set of five scores by tearing into Usa-River’s net in the 78th minute.
Elated Madini coach Juma Masoud boasted that “there are many more tricks”, being reserved under his team’s bonnet and that other older and more established clubs both in Arusha and Tanzania as a whole, need to brace for the worst because a New Kid on the soccer block has just entered town.
Madini, who are Group A, face Boda-Boda FC in their next match today, while Usa-River take on Monact next weekend. In previous matches, Kaloleni from the city centre beat Makumira of Meru 2-1, while Chaky and Suye Sports Club drew 1-1.
