Mwanza volleyball association announces 2015 priority

Mwanza Regional Volleyball Association (MWAREVA) has placed the bar higher this year, as they seek to promote the sport in the region.

The association is calling for help in order to support the regional volleyball league and set up new playing grounds n Mwanza.

Speaking with the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ on Thursday, MWAREVA Secretary General Kakono Mabula, said that they need support from various well wishers and the government for them to fulfil their programmes.

“Our target is to set up modern volleyball grounds in the region so as to host regional leagues. The grounds will also help Mwanza teams to prepare effectively for the National Volleyball Clubs Championship that will be held in April, this year,” Mabula added. “Mwanza also need to have four tournaments per year.

This will help us to discover new talents to be included in a region combined team,” he said. Mwanza region consists of nine men and five women volleyball teams.

The men’s teams include Magu from Magu districts, Mwanza Baptist, Nyakato and BOT (Bank of Tanzania) from Ilemela district.

Others are Ukerewe Heroes from Ukerewe district, Kwimba and Sumve from Kwimba district, Sengerema from Sengerema district and MTC from Nyamagana district.

Women teams are BoT (Bank of Tanzania), Loreto Girls, Mwanza Baptist from Ilemela district, Magu Queens from Magu and MTC from Nyamagana.

MWAREVA has managed to establish Beach Volleyball tournament that are being staged at Tunza Beach Resort in Ilemela every Sunday.
