Alliance thrashed Riverside 3-1 in the Mwanza Regional League match played at Mwanankanda ground in Magu over the weekend. Riverside coach Yangoo Mamboleo blamed the poor standard of the pitch for his team’s defeat.

His Alliance counterpart, Fulgence Novatus, said he was happy they won the match because Riverside are good and more experienced. He also thanked his new players Shaaban William and Kasongo Fred whom they signed from Kasulu Academy in Kigoma.

Alliance’s goals were scored by Kasongo in the 2nd and 31st minutes and Bruno John, who converted a penalty in the 83rd minute. Referee Peter Malimba awarded Alliance the penalty after Alliance striker Kasongo was fouled inside the box. Riverside’s consolation goal was scored by their captain Salum Faraji in the 40th minute.

The match witnessed one yellow card being flashed to Riverside’s Leonard Alex. Alliance will next meet TSC Academy at the CCM Kirumba Stadium here.
