Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) launched the second season of its Club Raha Leo show at Mikocheni Resort Club in Dar es Salaam on Saturday night.
The second season of the show, which is meant to search for dancing talents, comes with the introduction of a new category, Bongo Flava.
TBC Director General Clement Mshana said the new category was aimed to improve the three-month show which is being broadcast by both TBC1 and TBC Taifa, saying winners from each category would take home 10m/-.
“I call upon those who will emerge winners of the competition to inject the money into income generating activities,” said the TBC boss during the launch which attracted 23 participants.
Mshana pointed out that the show, whose hosts are Masoud Masoud and Hamis Dakota, is a platform for young people to showcase their talent in dancing and that even those who will not win should keep on developing their talents.
According to the competition’s chief judge, Ras Innocent Nganyagwa, the other music categories in the competition are Pop, Rhumba, Twist and Taarab.
Nganyagwa said the participants would start to compete individually and that they would later form groups in the knockout stage. “The participants will compete in all the five categories and the audience will have the chance to vote for them,” he said.
Other judges are Zouk music star Christina Kazinja (formerly known as Hafsa Kazinja), Beatus Mnyimi, a lecture at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), and musician Shomari Ally.
