Uwizeyimana, who won stage 4 last year is currently sixth on the general classification while Team Rwanda is the best African team at this competition and third overall at the one-week event that attracted five teams from Europe and six from Africa.

The reigning Tour du Rwanda winner Valens Ndayisenga is fourth in the U-23 category behind Morocco’s Eddine Salah Mraouni and Elias Afewerki of Eritrea respectively.

In today’s race, coach Felix Sempoma expects the Rwandan riders to put up yet another fight in the 127km in Libreville, the last stage of the 2.1 event.
