The Ministry of Sports and Culture has injected Rwf25m to support SEC Academy, Saturday Sport has learnt.

“It is just a one-off because they requested for financial help from the ministry. They are doing a good job in detecting and developing the young talent. The money is to help them to buy equipment and pay the coaches,” said the Director of Sports in Ministry of Sports and Culture, Emmanuel Bugingo.
He noted, “We are happy as the Ministry of Sports and Culture to help them because they (SEC Academy) are doing a good job as far as young talent development programmes is concerned. They know what to do with the money and we hope they put it to the intended use,” Bugingo explained.
Bugingo said the money will facilitate the academy in talent search across the country to eventually help to raise the level football in Rwanda.
SEC Academy will send five players to play for Portuguese fourth division side ADFA (Associação Desportiva de Fornos de Algodres).
The five players include; goalkeeper Steven Ntalibi, midfielder Shadad Nsengayire, defenders Hertier Turatsinze and Soter Kayumba as well as striker Isaac Muganza.
The Kicukiro-based football Academy has already sent Blaise Itangishaka to the Aspire Academy in Senegal and Amavubi defender Salomon Nirisarike to Belgium second tier side Royal Antwerp.
