The National Beach Soccer team crashed out of the CAF Beach Soccer qualifiers after losing 9-4 to Egypt in the return leg match held at Goal Project Stadium in Cairo, Egypt on day.

The Tanzanian side lost 6-2 in their first leg held at Escape One in Dar es Salaam and could not overturn the deficit as they tumbled out on a 15-6 aggregate loss.

Egypt march through into the 2015 CAF Beach Soccer Championship finals scheduled to take place in Roche Caiman, Seychelles on April14-19, 2015.

Tanzania, meanwhile, misses out on an opportunity to take part in the first CAF Beach Soccer Championship which will also serve as the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualifier for teams from the Africa nations, where the two finalists will qualify for the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup slated for Portugal.

To reach the first round, Tanzania eliminated Kenya from the qualifiers 12-9 on aggregate in the first round. They recorded a 5-3 victory in Mombasa, before recording a 7-6 win in the return leg in Dar es Salaam to set a date with Egypt.

Seychelles will host seven other nations, all with the hope of securing a spot in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 from July 9-19.

Nigeria was the first to qualify for the Seychelles event and the remaining teams that were battling for one of the six final spots at the weekend were: Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, Egypt, Mauritius, Cote d’Ivoire, Madagascar, South Africa, Mali, Senegal, Morocco, and Djibouti. Morocco and Djibouti will play in a one game playoff, to determine the final spot for Seychelles, on March 29.

The first round first leg had some cracking matches that had left the three losing teams with more than enough hope to turn things around. Four goals was the largest margin of victory and there was an average of 11 goals per match.

The first match was Uganda vs. Ghana, and it had the most goals of any match, with Ghana taking the first leg by a score of 9-6. The next match was Tanzania against Egypt, and the Egyptians pulled away for a 6-2 victory.

The last match over the weekend was Mauritius against Cote d’Ivoire, in which the Ivory Coast slipped past the Mauritians with a 6-4 win.

Only the winner and runner-up in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 – CAF Qualifier Seychelles will advance to the World Cup.
