Arusha District Football Association (ADFA) will get new leaders during its General Election on Saturday.

Secretary-in-charge of the electoral committee, Hussein Lembarit, said the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) has been enlisted to ensure that no ‘dirty’ money circulates.

He said regulations require winners to amass at least 50 per cent of the total votes cast, otherwise the polls will have to be repeated.

“PCCB has been contacted to send its personnel, who will be working with a special team from ADFA to help prevent or curb any case of graft should that occur,” Lembarit said.

ADFA polls are supposed to be held after every four years and the new office bearers are thus expected to serve the association from next week until sometimes in May 2019.

The elections followed complaints from members that the current leadership was extremely tired and needed to be relieved promptly.

Campaigns towards the ADFA elections started on April 26 and the voting is expected to be held at the Arusha School Hall from midday on Saturday.

Outgoing ADFA Chairman Charles Mwaimu admitted that he will be leaving office this weekend and that the electoral committee is a free body that will guarantee fair elections until new office bearers are found.

Posts being contested are Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer. Others are three slots in the Executive Committee and club representatives.

Only Secretary General Zakayo Mjema is seeking reelection and the other posts have attracted new faces.

Omar Walii vies for the post of Chairman, Elisha Silonga is contesting the post of Vice-Chairman, while Athuman Njiku and Omar Koindo want to be elected Assistant Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

Mwarizo Nassoro and Sarubare Lendisa are aspiring to become representatives in the association’s General Meetings.
