Sharif Bogere believes that he can make it five wins in a row when he takes on Mike Perez in a title eliminator at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, July 11.
The junior welterweights, both promoted by Golden Boy will be fighting as undercard to the 10-round main event junior welterweight contender between Mauricio Herrera (21-5, 7 KOs) and ”Hank Lundy (25-4-1, 12 KOs).
The winner of this fight will get a chance to play in a World title fight, which Bogere has been praying for, for the last five years.
The 26-year old Bogere (27-1, 19 KOs), who currently lives in Las Vegas, has won four straight fights (each by knockout) since losing a decision to then-lightweight titlist Richard Abril in March 2013.
He will however have to put up a tight fight as he prepares to take on a 25-year-old Perez (22-1-2, 10 KOs), from Newark, New Jersey.
Perez’s only loss came at the hands of Omar Figueroa who stopped him in the sixth round before going on to win a lightweight world title in 2012.
Bogere, who has stepped up training, told Andrew “Dru” Nyakana that he is not taking any chances as he has waited for this opportunity for so long.
“It is an opportunity I do not want to let go. I have always dreamt of a title fight and I have to work hard for that.”
