Commonwealth Games light flyweight bronze medalist Fazil Kaggwa has secured a place in the AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) series.
The budding pugilist launches the new phase of his career in the APB series with a fight in China on Sunday.
The boxer has been training at Lugogo under coach Dick Katende.
They departed for China on Tuesday.
The East Coast Club boxer who gained prominence after winning a medal in the Commonwealth Games last year, was signed up by a Russian boxing cartel last month.
The 20-year-old southpaw figther is part of a new crop of boxers who have emerged after four years of wrangles nearly ruined the sport.
Kaggwa is the second Ugandan to join the semi-professional ranks of the world boxing body-AIBA.
Heavyweight Willy Kyakonye moved tothe APB Series in Venezuela in February.
Kaggwa made an international debut at the 2012 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.
Later, he won gold medals at the East-African Inter-Cities Club Championships and at the Nyerere Cup.
