Police capped off a remarkable season after defeating second-placed APR in a tense and lively encounter at the Kimisagara Youth Centre on Saturday.

APR put up a spirited attack but could not stop Police’s inspirational winger Jean Paul Muhawenayo who was top scorer with 11 goals. Police ended the season with 58 points in 18 games while APR settled for second with 49 points.
Police coach Sgt Albert Sibomana said, “If we continue playing like this, this team will achieve a lot.”
The two-time reigning league champions turn their attention to the Carre d’As tournament which is slated for this weekend at Kimisagara Youth Center. The top four teams will compete in the one-day tournament, in which Police are the defending champions.
Police will be using the tournament as part of their preparations for the upcoming Africa Handball Champions League in Nador, Morocco from October 21-30.
ES Kigoma ended the season in third place with 45 points, two better than fourth-placed Inyemeramihigo.
