Kickboxer Moses Golola has decided to venture into boxing. The motor-mouthed fighter is scheduled to make his competitive bow when he takes on Egyptian Saber Abdelghani in an international bout due October 30.
The fight will be one of the major highlights of the fundraising drive for the Golola Kick-Boxing Talent Academy.
Golola who has been training for the past one month has promised to douse the Egyptian with ‘a chloroform punch’ in the middleweight contest.
On his surprise switch to boxing Golola said; “I have a strong background in boxing. I feel good. My punches are stronger than a kick now. It is going to be much easier because I will be concentrating on boxing only.”
Golola who is undergoing intensive training with coach Abbey Arum Mugayi for the past month said his is in good shape for the four-round contest.
“I will box Pharaohs son and he will feel like his has a dose of chloroform,” vowed Golola after a work-out at Kavumba Recreation Center.
Golola in July launched the fundraising drive to raise sh2.6b for the academy at Lugoba in Kawempe and vowed to continue fighting until his dream of the academy is realized.
“My dream is to see many talented Ugandans win more medals. In this world you have to fight on. Even getting a good wife is a fight,” he said.
“I believe there are so many young men and women I have inspired. I want to see guys who believe in themselves. I want to encourage them because Ugandan sport has to go another level.”
Golola said his ambition for setting up the academy is to see that Ugandan sportsmen excel at Olympic events.
“You cannot develop sport without an academy. I am a bridge in Ugandan sport. I am going to lay my back there for the young generation,” he added.
