Organisers of the Karatu Sports Festival have announced prizes for the winners of various categories in this year’s event set for next Saturday.
The Director of Filbert Bayi Foundation (FBF), organisers of the festival, Filbert Bayi said that winner of the 10 kilometres race at the 12 edition of the festival will take home 200,000/- up from 100,000/- given for the same in last year’s event.
Bay said second winner in the 10km race will get 150,000/-, while the third winner will receive 100,000/- from the organisers.
The sixth to tenth winner will each get a 30,000/- consolation. He further said that FBF will present prizes to all 15 top finishers, while winner of the 5km women race will get 150,000/-, 100,000/- for the second placed, while the third winner will receive 70,000/-.
The fourth and fifth winner will get 50,000/- and 40,000/- respectively. There will also be 2.5km race in which the winner will take home 50,000/-, while the second placed will take home 30,000/- as fourth to fifth placed will get 15,000/- and 10,000/- respectively.
In 60km cycling race winner will get 200,000/- while the second and third placed will receive 150,000/- and 100,000/- respectively.
The fourth placed will get 70,000/-. Karatu festival is an annual event, which apart from athletics, cycling and volleyball, also attracts traditional dance groups to compete.
