Rubavu-based Benection cycling club and Rwanda national team captain Nathan Byukusenge tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend and former rider Diane Uwineza on Sunday at ETER church in Kiyovu, City of Kigali.

Uwineza used to ride for Rwamanaga-based Les Amis Sportif cycling club and continues to play a big advisory role for her former club in terms of promoting female riders as well the women national team.
Notables at the wedding included Team Rwanda’s American coach Jonathan Boyer, the cycling federation officials including; chairman Aimable Bayingana, vice president Festus Bizimana, Secretary General Thierry Rwabusaza as well as advisors Serge Sakumi and Toussaint Nosisi.
Also in attendance was Rwanda’s leading professional rider Adrien Niyonshuti, who rides for South Africa based MTN-Qhubeka, Team Rwanda’s therapist and former rider Evode Ruvogera.
The couple was praised by the Rwanda Cycling Federation boss, Bayingana, for their role in the development of the sport in the country.
”Byukusenge has been an outstanding rider and leader throughout his career and, on behalf of the federation, we would like to wish him and his bride a happy marriage,” Bayingana told the guests.
