Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) is planning to start early preparations for local representatives at this year’s African Volleyball Clubs Championship.
TAVA Chairman Augustine Agape told the ‘Daily News’ in Dar es Salaam that the African Premier Clubs Championship is set for March and April in Tunisia.
He said that national champions Magereza are expected to battle it out in the men’s category scheduled for March 18 to 30 this year.
Agape added that the women’s event is scheduled to be held from April 18 to 30 in Tunisia and Tanzania will once again be represented by Jeshi Stars.
“We expect that Magereza and Jeshi Stars will represent Tanzania in the men’s and women’s categories respectively in the Tunisia events,” he explained.
“The two tournaments will be held in two separate months but both will take place in Tunisia. “TAVA leadership plans to meet with the two clubs and see how they are preparing for the tournament.
Our objective is to help them prepare adequately.” Agape said that having early preparations could help the teams stay focused and aim for glory.
“Our aim is to work together to ensure that we send competitive teams to Tunisia. Success in the tournaments will definitely make our country proud,” he insisted.
However, he pointed out that in order to succeed, they need support from stakeholders and sponsors.
