The week-long course was organised and conducted by Tanzania Amateur Vollyeball Association (TAVA) under its technical committee chairman and national instructor Somo Kimwaga.

TAVA Chairman Agustino Agapa described the course that started on February 15 to 20 this year as successful. “We are very pleased to organise such a course in Kagera after a long time,” he told the ‘Sunday News’ in Dar es Salaam.

Agapa added that the course brought together 31 primary and secondary schools sports teachers from all districts of Kagera region named Biharamulo, Bukoba, Karagwe, Kyerwa, Missenyi, Muleba and Ngara. He said it was well received by all participants.

“TAVA decide to conduct coach’s course for schools teachers as we bet on them in the game development.” He said that talented players can be identified from school level so it is wise for them to invest and put all their focus and efforts into that area in the 2014 calendar.

“You know we came to realise that there is some gap left since the government stopped sports from schools level before it was restored in recent years.

It’s time we overcome that and the only decent way of doing that is to give knowledge to sports teachers,” he said. Agapa said that the programme has just started and that association will continue spreading similar courses to other regions.
