Defending champions Kaimosi Teachers Training College of Nzoia region were forced to a scoreless draw as the National inter-colleges ball games kicked off yesterday at Shanzu Teachers Training College.

Coached by Jacob Olando, the men title holders missed several scoring opportunities before they were deadlocked 0-0 with Thogoto Teachers Training College of Metropolitan region at Annex playground.
The champions will be out to get three points this morning when they take on Rubate of Northern region in a match they must win to enhance their chances of retaining the title. “We lost many scoring chances but we are going to rectify them in our next match,” said Kaimosi’s women football coach David Akhalea.
In another men’s football tie at Shanzu ground, host Shanzu Teachers Training College came from a goal behind to draw 1-1 with Kilimambogo Teachers Training.
Edwin Ochieng gave Kilimambogo the opening goal through a penalty in the 25th minute for a 1-0 lead at half time.
In boys hockey, Baringo showed little respect to Machakos Teachers Training College after they handed them a 2-0 drubbing at Shanzu ground.
Humphrey Naphale shot the winners ahead in the 20th minute before Erima Wanjala sounded the boards with the second goal in the 39th minute to ensure his side grabbed the maximum points.
In another boys hockey match, Asumbi were deadlocked 0-0 with Murang’a after the final whistle.
Standing tall
In girls handball, Meru beat Thogoto 13-8 after taking a 7-3 lead at half time with Joan Yego and Celestine Nanjala standing tall for Meru while Hellen Kawira and Grace Nandie stood tall for Thogoto. Eregi clobbered Asumbi 25-8.
In netball women, Meru were in a class of themselves as they poured goals at will to beat Kilimambogo 26-6.
In girls basketball, Shanzu Teachers Training College were in a celebration mood after they beat Kaimosi by half a basket to win the match 27-26 after tying 19-19 at half time.
In girls volleyball, last year’s finalists Meru Teachers Training College silenced Migori 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-19).
In a tough volleyball men encounter which lasted for two hours 38 minutes, Kilimambogo beat Egoji 3-2 after 2-2 tie.
