The second edition of the Inter- Community darts tournament is underway at Upanga Club in Dar es Salaam as three teams top the table.
The tournament that brings together 11 Dar es Salaam-based teams started on March 24 this year and will end on April 9 at the club.
As the tournament approached the second week on Tuesday night, Bhoiraj Strikers A, Khalsa and St. Xaviour-Red battled to the top of the table and each collected 10 points.
But Bhoiraj and St. Xaviour have played five matches – three wins, one draw and one loss — each, while Khalsa, who have a game in hand, have won three matches and one draw.
In the fourth place are Inter- Community United with nine points from four matches while Rana Samaj are fifth with seven points from three matches.
Other teams in the tournament are AK Boys Green (6 points from three matches), St. Xaviour-Blue (4 points from three matches), Union (3 points from three matches), Bhoiraj-B (3 points from five matches), AK Boys-Red (one point from three matches) and bottom placed Sunni-VI who have no point after playing four matches.
Match organizer Bharat Vyas told the ‘Daily News’ that all is going well for the tournament since it started. “Just in its second year the level of competition is already high and teams have shown an excellent fighting spirit,” he said.
He added that they are keen to stage the Upanga Club-sponsored tournament annually.
The event, which is played at night on weekdays, continues at the club before the final is held next Wednesday.
