East Africa member countries have been implored to harmonize Community Coaching Education System to facilitate free movement of coaches within the region.
This move will also help regional block member countries to address the problem of shortage of coaches. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports, Sihaba Nkinga told a Knowledge Exchange Workshop on Friday that harmonizing the education system was vital for sports development in the region.
“Harmonizing community coaching education system will help coaches to train children in any school in the region,” noted Nkinga in a speech read on her behalf by Chairman of the National Sports Council (NSC), Dioniz Malinzi. Nkinga also pointed out that lack of sports knowledge among managers and administrators in the sector as major challenge for sports clubs and associations to attain their goals.
“Without proper management and administration there will be no development in sports sector,” she said. According NSC General Secretary, Henry Lihaya, the twoday workshop which has been jointly organised by the NSC and UK Sport International under International Inspiration Initiative has brought together participants from eight countries.
The countries are England, Rwanda, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and the host, Tanzania. The Community Coaching Education is the knowledge aimed at sports agencies engage in educating and developing coaches at a particular setting including schools at different levels of education.
