The Tanzania Amateur Netball Association (CHANETA) has extended to August 10 the deadline for teams submitting their players’ registration forms for this year’s National First Division Netball League.
Sixteen teams had by confirmed their participation in the league set for August 24 to September 7 in Mbeya.
“Of these only seven teams managed to beat today’s deadline for confirming participation and submitting registration forms,” CHANETA chairperson Ana Kibira told the ‘Daily News’ in the city.
“We’ve, therefore, decided to extend the deadline for five days,” she added. The teams were defending champions Filbert Bayi Foundation, JKT Mbweni, Jeshi Stars, Morogoro Prisons, Police Mwanza, JKT Ruvu and Tamisemi Dodoma.
Those yet to submit their forms are CMTU, Tumaini, Immigration, Tumbaku, Police Moro, Police Arusha and Ras Lindi. Also in the lists are hosts Police Mbeya and Amambe. “We expect Police Dar es Salaam, Temeke Queens and Bandari Dar es Salaam to confirm by this evening (yesterday),” Kibira said.
“The rest should ensure they submit their players’ registration and pay their participation fee through the association’s account before August 10,” she insisted. Kibira said that the CHANETA Technical committee will meet on August 11 to scrutinize the registration forms before endorsing them for the country’s highest netball league. Meanwhile, Mapinduzi Dodoma have withdrawn from the tournament.
