THE Taekwondo Tanzania Federation (TTF) intends to start issuing special martial arts licences to the local coaches who have just completed their training in Arusha, sessions that are usually held once every five years.
But in addition to that, the President of the Tanzania Taekwondo Federation (TTF), Ally Ramoudh, stated here that the Taekwondo association is soon also going to be changing the type of outfits being used by Taekwondo members and artists in Tanzania, because the current ones closely resembles uniforms adorned by the Karate players.
“Taekwondo is not the kind of martial arts aiming to hurt or injure other opponents, thus it is very important to differentiate it from other types of similar games by designing new types of uniforms,” pointed out Ramoudh during the closing event for the just ended National Taekwondo Coaches training which was held in Arusha throughout last week.
The coaches who have been attending Taekwondo training were advised to go back to their respective districts and regions and form clubs in their respective areas and bring back report of such in the next training session scheduled for the year 2019.
The only female Taekwondo coach in the training was Dorcas Joseph Chacha who admitted to be facing great challenges being one of the very few female coaches in the country as well as to be almost the only one in Kagera Region where she hailed.
A total of 28 coaches attended the training which brought into Arusha such instructors from as far as Mara, Mwanza, Simiyu, Kagera, Arusha, Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro, with 75 per cent of the number being coaches from Arusha which happens to be the headquarters of the Korean Martial Arts in Tanzania.
The sessions were conducted by Jin Young Kim the Taekwondo Champion of 2003, who was brought here by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) though the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and coordinated by the Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC).
A member of TOC, Irene Mwasanga who represented the committee’s Secretary General Filbert Bayi, advised the coaches to ensure that such Taekwondo martial arts training sessions are also extended to local schools with special emphasis to female pupils and students.
