LDN lift inter-schools boys’ v-ball title

Lycee de Nyanza were crowned champions of this year’s inter-schools boys’ volleyball title after beating Rusumo High School in the final on Sunday in Musanze District.

The Nyanza district-based LDN claimed the crown after beating league archrivals Rusumo High School in four sets 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14.

Lycée de Nyanza who had beaten Saint Joseph Kabgayi 3-1 in the semi-finals on Saturday are now shifting focus on FEASSA Games after impressing at national level. The post-primary games for this year will be held in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania in a month-time.

“We are very happy for the title; we have been fighting for this crown. We faced tough opposition from GSO Butare and Saint Joseph Kabgayi. We’re going to start preparations for FEASSA Games and our target is to win the regional title as well,” added Lycée de Nyanza Coach Leon Fidele Mutesi.

In other finals, Nyarugenge-based GS Sainte Famille won the boys’ rugby title beating ETEM Mukingi 10-5 while girls’ netball honor went to GS Gahini who hammered former champions Saint Joseph Kabgayi 60-33 in the final.

Lycée de Nyanza, Rusomo High School will represent Rwanda at the EAC primary games in boys’ volleyball while GS Sainte Famille and GS Gahini will take part in the rugby and netball finals respectively.

Girls’ volleyball finals are scheduled for July 30 to August 1 in Save sector, Huye district.
