National women’s handball team is in intensive training in readiness for the East Africa Zone Five championships, scheduled to be held on August 15 this year in Kampala, Uganda.
The team which is training at Amaan Stadium here with a total of 14 players is scheduled to leave for Kampala on August 11 or 12 ready to take part in the event.
The team’s Head coach Hadi Ubwa Mamboya said that the team is training under difficult circumstances as they are faced with various challenges including financial difficulties. The team is currently training off camp.
Mamboya added that the team is also facing shortage of sports gear, which are expected to be available readily available for the national team both for the training programs and during official matches.
However, he said despite facing such difficulties, players are in high spirit ready for the championship. On her side the team Captain Mwantanga Mzee Saidi said that they are prepared to face stiff opposition but promised they are going to battle to the bitter end.
She urged all sports stakeholders to support them to enable them achieve their goal of clinching the championship.
