Tanzania will host the second edition of Silver Leaf Chinese Wushu international competition to take place from August 30-31 this year at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam.
The competition jointly organised by Tanzanian Wushu Association (TWA) and Chinese Business Chamber of Tanzania will feature two events of Taolu style which features a full contact between two opponents and Sanda style, which features three fighters.
TWA President Mwarami Mtete told journalists on Thursday eight countries, including China, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Libya, Iran and hosts Tanzania are expected to participate in the tournament.
Mtete also said Tanzania will be represented by 23 Wushu teams which will field 184 players. He added that Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda is expected to be the chief guest during the opening ceremony. Several other dignitaries, including ambassadors of countries participating in the tournament, are expected to attend.
“China will also send a delegation of people who will serve as technical specialists and referees during the competition,” Mbete said, adding that numerous awards, including cash, medals and computers will be dished out to the winners
