The Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF) has sponsored a friendly match to pit former players of the country’s soccer giant Simba and Young Africans at the Bandari grounds in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.

According to the organisers, no entrance fee will be charged for the match which is part of activities to welcome the New Year. PSPF Senior Information Officer, Abdul Njaidi, said the match will attract big names who excelled with the two historical clubs in the country.

He said the match aims to provide the much needed entertainment to welcome the New Year.

The fund will also use the occasion to promote its various products. Njaidi named some of the players expected to feature for Simba as Thomas Kipese, George Lucas, Bita John, George Masatu, Mustafa Hoza, Emmanuel Gabriel and Idd Seleman.

Simba are training at Leaders Club, Kinondoni in Dar es Salaam under playercum- coach Kasongo Athuman. Yanga squad has, among others, Peter Manyika, Mwanamtwa Kihwelo, Edibily Lunyamila, Mohamed Husein, Chibe Chibindu, Aboubakar Salum and Bakari Malima.

Yanga veterans are training at the club’s Kaunda Stadium at Jangwani under former Taifa Stars striker Peter Tino.
