The Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA), in collaboration with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVF), has organised an international Level One coaching course.

The nine-day course will be held at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam from April 10 to 18, this year. It will be conducted by IVF instructor Kurt Radde from Germany.

TAVA Chairman Agustino Agapa told the ‘Sunday News’ from Tanga that preparations for the course are in top gear. Agapa said invitations have been extended to regional volleyball associations, primary and secondary schools, higher learning institutions and government sports officers.

“Preparations are going on well and the course is open to primary and secondary schools as well as Teachers’ Training Colleges,” he said.

“For the betterment of the sport in the country we also expect participants from other areas, including former volleyball players and coaches,” he added.

The deadline for confirming participation is April 5 and all those who will attend the course will be awarded FIVB Level 1 Certificate.

Radde will be second German instructor after Alexander Leibtseder, who conducted a similar course in the city last year.

Agapa said he hopes the course will benefit both the participants and the country. He thanked FIVB for their support that made it possible for TAVA to organize the course in the country. This will be the first international volleyball coaching course this year.

The association organised several coaching courses at the national and international level last year as part of its effort to revitalise volleyball in the country.

“We’ll continue to organise national and international courses to prepare coaches who will be ready to unearth and groom talent as we’re determined to promote the game at the grassroots level,” Agapa said.
