The highly entertaining fight, which took place at the PTA Hall in Dar es Salaam, saw the Morogoro-based boxer win by technical knockout (TKO) in the seventh round.
Cheka, who was at his usual ruthless shape, controlled the 10-round bout, hitting his rival with well-calculated blows and was eventually declared the winner by TKO after his opponent could not continue with the fight at the end of the seventh round.
This was Cheka’s first fight since being released from jail after his 3-year sentence was rescinded in March, this year. Cheka, ranked number one boxer in the country at the moment, was sent to jail and fined 1.6m/- for assaulting his employee Bahati Kibanda, following a misunderstanding in his business venture.
The sentence which was delivered on February 2 by Resident Magistrate Said Msuya in Morogoro District Court, was rescinded about a month later.
Cheka will now serve a year-long sentence outside the prison corridors courtesy of a priceless parole he secured from the Morogoro prison authorities.
He was released from jail as per 1967 Law chapter number 34 section 51 that was amended by chapter 9 of 2002 which allows prison authorities to parole prisoners after seeking opinion from the community officers based on the prisoner’s impressive conduct.
It was decided that he would now serve his one-year term outside the prison while attending to community work throughout the period.
Cheka’s record now is 31 wins, 17 of them by KO and 8 losses with 5 by KO. He has 2 draws in a total of professional fights.
