The match between Dar Leopards and Mombasa Rugby today should be decisive to win the Mamba Hatch Cup (MHC) this year.

After Leopards’ narrow win over Mombasa in their away game, the Kenyan coastal lads have come with a vengeance to show what they can do. Leopards will be equally determined to keep the trophy they won last year.

“We’re ready for the challenge and have managed to assemble the strongest team. We’re all set to close the series tomorrow,” the club’s Vice- Chairman, Peter Kasanda, confidently told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ yesterday.

He said they also want to win to give their outgoing Chairman Philippe Poinsot a befitting gift as this will be his last match in this capacity before he leaves the country early next week.

“We cannot think of a better present to give our outgoing chairman than a win against Mombasa Rugby,” said Kasanda. The game will be at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC), with kick-off set for 4pm.

Last evening, the hosts had their ‘Captain’s Run’ on Kenyatta Green in Oysterbay where they had their final training session.

Poinsot reaffirmed the club’s reasons for making the match special and admitted nothing would please him more than to win the match.

In case they win, Leopards will go through and leave Arusha Rhinos and Mombasa fighting for the second and third positions.
