The National Sports Council (NSC) has organised a five-day course for sports medicine doctors and specialists to be held at the National Stadium hall in Dar es Salaam next week.
NSC Senior Sports Officer, Benson Chacha, said the course set for July 14-18, this year, has been organised jointly by the council and the Tanzania Sports Medicine Association (TASMA). Chacha said that the course will be conducted by specialists from the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports and TASMA.
According to Chacha, the training is in accordance with the national sports policy and rules so as to create an environment in delivering quality treatment to sportsmen and women in the country.
He added that the course aims to facilitate perfect and fast treatment of sportsmen and women to enable them stay in sports for long periods. “The training aims at increasing the skills and knowledge of sports medical doctors so they will be able to fulfil their duties effectively and in the end contribute effectively to good performance of our local teams and athletes,” Chacha said.
He noted that the best way to improve the health of sportsmen and women is to have specialised doctors who will treat and cure them. He added that the training will also help increase the number of professional sports medical doctors, who will help to fill the gaps in various sports clubs and associations in the country.
Chacha said that the participants are required to contribute 20,000/- to compensate the training expenses. All sports associations and clubs and private professionals have been asked to attend the training so as to develop sports activities in the nation, concluded the statement. Chacha said interested persons should confirm their participation to the NSC Secretary General.
